Objective Networks

Posted by paul, Sun Dec 31 20:56:00 UTC 2006

Site: Objective Networks
Project: While working for Objective Networks (Now Form Fonts) I designed and built the worlds largest online Database of 3D models. Built on the active SketchUp community, Users could contribute their 3D models, allowing anyone to search, user their object in their own projects. Models could even be dragged directly from Objective Networks into SketchUp (Now owed by Google) With over 4 Million models downloaded, this early Youtube or flickr, was highly successful with a niche group of architects and designers. The current Form Fonts site, now serves as a subscription based service rather then the free, user driven community. Technologies: PHP, MySQL

EDU Business Soultions: Energy Saver Pro

Posted by paul, Sun Dec 31 17:14:00 UTC 2006

Client: EDU Business Solutions
Application: Energy Saver Pro
While working for EDU Business solutions, I designed and developed a distributed N-tierd .NET application used to save school districts hundreds of thousands of dollars in utility bills. Energy Saver Pro installs on any Microsoft Windows Operating System and integrates with Microsoft Active Directory® or Novell Netware® to make power setting management a breeze. Installing Energy Saver Pro and configuring power settings for Active Directory users and groups takes less than an hour and can save an average size school district or university well over $100,000 per year in utility bills. I developed a small windows service, that deployed through Active directory to client computers. Onces installed, the Windows service would read power management setting from Active Directory and make apply the setting to the local machine based on user, group, and subnet. .NET remoting was used to communicate energy usage statistic back to a central reporting application to be stored in a MSDE database. I developed a third reporting application in VB.NET to help schools analyze power usage and estimate savings. Also, I developed a mac client with a combination Java and and shell scripts.
